Choosing a ROM
Custom ROMs can refresh old devices, add features, or improve battery behavior, but the best choice depends on device variant, bootloader state, radio firmware, and community support.
Evaluation criteria
Look for ROMs with clear changelogs, active maintainers, stable builds, working camera and mobile data reports, and simple rollback instructions.
Before flashing
Create a complete backup in recovery, copy files off-device, confirm checksums, and never flash a package for a different HTC One variant.
Maintenance
Legacy ROM communities can disappear over time, so preserve copies of firmware, recovery, and restore files that are known to work on your device.
